Typical workflow in DaVinci Resolve

  • Organise your clips in a folder:

    • Before starting your project, ensure that all your video clips and media files are neatly organised in a designated folder on your computer. This will make it easier to locate and import them later.

  • Create a new project in DaVinci Resolve:

    • Open DaVinci Resolve and create a new project. Give your project a name that reflects its content to keep things organised.

  • Media Page:

    • Import clips inside your project (Media Storage):

      • Drag and drop your clip folder in the Media Storage area.

    • Drag and drop clips in the Media Pool:

      • Once you have located your clips in the Media Storage, drag and drop them into the Media Pool. This action adds your clips to the project, making them available for editing.

  • Drag clips in the editing timeline:

    • Move to the Edit page and drag your imported clips from the Media Pool to the editing timeline. Arrange them in the order you want them to appear in your final video.

  • Perform your edits:

    • Use the edit page in DaVinci Resolve to cut, trim, and adjust your clips. Add transitions, effects, and any other edits needed to enhance your video.

  • Export the final video:

    • Once you are satisfied with your edits, go to the Deliver page to export your final video. Choose your desired export settings and render the project to create the final output.
