# How do I add background music to my video?

To add background music:

1. Import your music file into the *Media Pool*.
2. Drag the music file in the timeline.
3. If needed cut or trim the audio clip do so by following [4. Cut or trim](https://caseytechschool.gitbook.io/davinci-resolve/cut-or-trim/)tutorial.
4. Adjust the audio level in the *Inspector panel*. For information on how to do it check [10. Mute](https://caseytechschool.gitbook.io/davinci-resolve/mute/)
