# How do I use green screen footage and replace the green screen with a backdrop?

To use green screen footage:

1. Ensure you have two clips: one recorded with a green screen and a backdrop clip (image, video or text) to replace the green screen.
2. Add both clips to your *Media Pool* and drag and drop the green screen clip onto your timeline.
3. From the "**Effects**" panel, select *Open FX*. In the search bar, type "**3D Keyer**". Drag and drop the 3D Keyer effect onto your green screen clip.
4. Change the mode to OpenFX overlay.
5. Select "**Effects**" from the *Inspector panel*.
6. Click on the Ink drop icon and hold your mouse button to draw a line or curve around your object of interest onto your green screen video.
7. Slide the **Despill** value to 1 to remove the green edge around your object.
8. Move your backdrop under the green screen video and adjust its length and position.
